Firm Philosophy
Our philosophy is communication not litigation. Rather than seek legal counsel after an association is in trouble, we provide education for board members so as to prevent problems. We believe that every association is first and foremost a community. Accordingly, a tremendous amount of time and energy is devoted to litigation prevention through board member communication and education.
The board members of our community associations are not charged for
telephone calls. Our client board members and their manager or
management company may telephone us at no charge for discussions of up to
fifteen minutes in length. This aspect has been tremendously helpful to
boards in preventing legal problems before they occur. Board members are also provided with The Kaman Report
which is a newsletter informing them of legal trends and updates.
Our community association board member clients are also invited to educational seminars, all of which are presented in many convenient locations including Akron/Fairlawn, North Olmstead, Columbus, Dayton/Fairborn, Painesville, Warren, Aurora, Independence, Eastlake, Huron, Cuyahoga Falls, Strongsville, Beachwood, Port Clinton, Canton and Westlake. A sample of just a few topics covered:
- Satellite Dish Invasion - What Every Board Member Needs to Know
- Board vs. Bored Meetings - A Guide to Efficient and Effective Meetings
- The ABC's of Rule Enforcement
- Annual Election Meetings: Alternatives, Procedures, Proxies and Avoiding Problems
- Managers and Management Companies - What They Do and Don't
- Federal Laws That Impact Community Associations
- Problem Solving Through Document Amending
We recognize that it takes a team of people working together to run successful community associations. Our lawyers work together with all association advisors including managers, management companies, engineers, and accountants in order to assist your association efficiently and consistently.
